Country mouse visits the Brisbane Writers Festival

I'm really happy to tell you that I'll be at the Brisbane Writers Festival this year. It's on at several venues, mainly at the State Library, from 4 - 8 September. I'll be there on Friday 6 September and Sunday, 8 September.

On the Friday, I'll be doing a three hour masterclass on simple living. I'll be creating a special presentation for this to condense what we did at the workshops into a three hour format. I'm really looking forward to doing it because it will make me focus on the most important points as well as strategies to get people started and keep them going.

I'll be back again on Sunday to do an hour long discussion with Antonia Kidman on The Simple Life. We'll be talking about changes we can all make to live richer and fuller lives.

The Brisbane Writers Festival is always a fun event in our capital city that draws in many authors and interesting people from all walks of life. I'd love to see you there and if you do come along, please come over and introduce yourself to us; Hanno will be with me.

  1. How fun! This event sounds lovely.

My daughter is in your dear Country for the next three months. She is in Toowoomba. It is hard for a Pennsylvania Mom to imagine how very far away this is, however, reading blogs and having international friendships makes it a bit more tolerable.

    1. Becky, Toowoomba is one of our lovely inland cities but really it's like a big country town. I hope your daughter is enjoying some Australian country hospitality during her stay.

  4. Hi Rhonda,
Just wanted to note that you are really a celebrity meeting other celebrities now ;-) Antonia Kidman ! I like her very much and remember when she did the TV serie on births and babies, loved it. I though that she was living in Singapore or somewhere now, I am obviously mistaken. Have fun talking with her on Sunday.

  8. Dear Rhonda. That is awesome for you and I am sure anyone who attends will be blessed. I see you have a new photo. Your hair is looking very nice. I want to thank you for posting the photo a week or so back of the quilt on your bed. It inspired me to get out my quilting fabric and begin to make one for us. I am having counseling for anxiety and depression and I find that the blog is full of encouragement and doing the crafts/preserving /gardening is putting me in a place of peace within myself.
    God bless

    1. Hello Karen, that photo was taken just before I went to one of my talks last week. I find crafts, preserving and gardening to be very soothing and therapeutic too. That quilt is actually from Ikea. It's not a homemade one. I do have a couple of hand made quilts but I use that one in the winter because it is very long and it hangs down to the floor on both sides of the bed, therefore keeping both Hanno and me very warm. Take care, love. xx

  11. Hi Rhonda,
We have a Brisbane Waters here on the Central Coast! I had hoped it may be the one you were coming to - alas I am wrong and it was the State Library in Queensland - a bit far for me. Darn! I look forward to someday meeting you, perhaps. I love being inspired by your blog anyhow! Sometimes when I feel a bit down your blog lifts me back up again.

  12. That sounds wonderful Rhonda. So pleased that you are coming down to Brisbane for the Writers Festival.
I have recently read a little bit about Antonia Kidman, it was very interesting. She is now a mother of six children and obviously takes great pleasure in being the mother of a brood of children. She also seems to be a Down to Earth mother so I'm sure you'll have lots to talk about.
