I'm pleased and proud to show you a sneak peak of my new book (my last). I don't have too much to tell you yet. It's still in the production stage, it will go to print soon and will be available in March 2016.
After I look at the final product, I'll give you a list of chapters but basically it's a very practical book which details projects month-by-month throughout the year. In the food chapters there are recipes and a step-by-step guide to bread and cheese making. But there are also chapters on cleaning, slowing down, thrift, gardening in containers, mending and sewing. I'll let you know when I have more information. :- )
What a beautiful cover!! Congratulations Rhonda - I can't wait to read it :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd again! It looks like a very lovely book to read and learn from Rhonda! Is it going to be same as your first book? Hardcover, I mean? I would love to buy me a copy of this book, jus like I did with your first and let it be shipped to The Netherlands!
ReplyDeleteLove from Holland
Oh wow! Congrats! That's a really great accomplishment. Looking forward to the book!
ReplyDeleteOh. Wow. Hurry up printers. Be finished already!
ReplyDeleteThe book looks very inviting. I love the cover !! I have your other books on e-reader, which is good, because I live in The Netherlands. They are very easy to download after buying. I hope this one will come in an e-book version too ?
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
How exciting! Can`t wait to see that book coming out. Count me in for buying an addition.
ReplyDeleteYour new book looks lovely Rhonda. Looking forward to reading it next March (or whenever it is available in North America).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteMadeleine.x
Your book sounds like it'll be a great read as well as a great resource. I love the cover, simple but eye-catching......do you have a say in what design the cover will be, or does your publisher decide all that?
ReplyDeleteWe wanted it to be a good sister book for Down to Earth and the cover had to reflect that, so the tone for the cover was set with the previous cover. The design is Penguin's baby and I either approve or disapprove it. I've always been very happy with the design work done on my books and I love this design.
DeleteCan't hardly wait!
DeleteCongratulations Rhonda, I love your books & look forward to reading this one soon, I can't wait to add it to my Rhonda Hetzel book collection :)
ReplyDeleteHa, Sugarpie. It'll be a small collection. Penguin want me to keep writing but this will be my last book.
DeleteGreat cover, I'm looking forward to it's release (I've almost read the print off down to earth!!!) haha, keep us updated. I was very sorry to hear of Hettie's passing, she was a part of your family for so long, you will miss her, thinking of you all, Deb
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Rhonda ... So very exciting for you ...and us :D I cannot wait until we can read your book.
ReplyDeleteIm so sorry to read about Hettie ...our pets are a big part of our family and its sad when they leave us. RIP Hettie.
Cheers Julie
The cover looks gorgeous Rhonda.
ReplyDeleteI have to ask though, Are you OK Rhonda? I've felt a different tone in your posts over the last couple of weeks. I realise that you have just lost Hettie, but I feel it's more than just that. Is Hanno well?
Sorry if this appears nosey, that isn't my intention.
cheers Kate
Everything is fine here, Kate. I've had my sister here for the past 2 ½ weeks. Nothing else has changed. :- )
DeleteI'm pleased to hear that Rhonda. :)
DeleteRhonda, I can't wait for this new book. I have read your first book cover to cover a few times and always glean something new that inspires or makes me ponder for days over new directions and whether they will suit us - always conscious that we're individuals and must create lasting changes by holding close the ideas that 'speak' to us and steadily bring them into our day/life. Thank you, and congratulations!
ReplyDeleteYour book looks wonderful! I am looking forward to getting my copy!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of slowing down, while researching for an assignment I came across an interesting academic, Samuel Alexander who is Research fellow, Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute at University of Melbourne. In the face of all that is happening around us, but especially climate change and the need to de-carbonise, he advocates embracing a simpler way. I first ground him via The Conversation. (https://theconversation.com/the-green-tech-future-is-a-flawed-vision-of-sustainability-46681)
Samuel is a member of the forum, Sharon. The work he does at the Institute is excellent.
DeleteThanks. I am still making my way through the back catalog of your blog posts and the Forum continues to be a total mystery to me :(
DeleteWhat a beautiful design on the jacket! Very thrilling for you, Rhonda.
ReplyDeleteRhonda this is very exciting news! By the way, my council has asked for suggestions on talks for 2016 focusing on sustainable living. I have boldly asked if there is any chance they may be able to invite you over, seeing as ther has been a lot of interest here on decluttering, preserving and the like. I hope this is okay? I do remember you writing that you may be able to head down to Melbourne when your book comes out...
ReplyDeleteI'll be in Melbourne as part of the book tour, Mrs Meagre. We'll have to see what your council comes up with.
DeleteThat's wonderful news Rhonda, I was sorry that we were unable to catch up when your last trip to Melbourne was cancelled. However the offer remains if you would like to visit Heronswood at Dromana - I would love to shout you a cuppa after a stroll around the grounds and a visit to the nursery shop! Will be keeping my eyes peeled for details of your book tour - at the very least would love the opportunity to meet you in person. Kaz.
DeleteCAN......NOT......WAIT!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get it. Loved your other books

ReplyDeleteWhen your book in French language? Thank you for all good idéas :-))
ReplyDeleteCarolinelamalouine (France - Saint-Malo)
Caroline, my book will only be translated to French if a French publisher buys the rights to it.
DeleteCongratulations, Rhonda - the cover is perfect. I do hope it will be available for shipping to Canada through amazon or Book Depository or some other seller - I'll be at the head of the line ready to order and searching for a source as soon as it's published :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, what a lovely idea for a book! I am really looking forward to next year and settling down with a cup of tea, slice of cake and 'The Simple Home'!
ReplyDeleteAdding my enthusiastic approval to the 60 posters before me! The cover is enticing, I am so looking forward to having this on my bookshelf alongside your other books, where I can pick them up whenever I need some of your wisdom to encourage my simple living :-)
ReplyDeleteRhonda I absolutely LOVE the cover! I love how it is in harmony with the first cover. They're both very beautiful books, but of course what matters is inside. I absolutely adored your first and can't wait to have this one sitting in my bookshelf alongside it! (After, of course, a few months of thorough reading). They're a great resource and I'm sure they're something your children and grandchildren will treasure and hopefully pass down. Congratulations again Rhonda, you deserve it.
ReplyDeleteBec
