I've been out working on the front verandah this morning. Gracie was with me, I went inside and when I came out again I could see her staring at something in a tree. I went inside and got my camera. I crept into the garden without making a sound because I really wanted the photos. Well, when I got over there I realised nothing would have distracted her, she was focused in like a laser.
What's that up the tree?
I'll sit here and wait.
And wait.
Maybe I can get a better view on the other side.
Yes, it moved!
I need to be bigger ... enlarge.
Enlarge again.
Enlarge to maximum height.
Ahem. I'll just sit here and wait for it to come down. It's met its match with me.
It was a bird. A common miner. A bird she sees hundred of times every day. Gracie! 🙄
She is such a cutie. Rhonda I have been meaning to comment for ages after reading about your updates but I always seemed to be about to do something else and I'd get distracted. It is so lovely to see you posting again although I had found you on Instagram. This has nothing to do with this post but as I'm now in my mid 50's I find myself reading a lot about retirement - a few years off yet. Thanks to bloggers like yourself I am not in the least bit worried as I living simply fits like a glove now. You were definitely the first blogger to start changing my mindset and I can't thank you enough. Now if it would just rain on the Sunshine Coast .... sigh
ReplyDeleteI get such a kick out of Gracie! My chihuahua notices everything, but unlike Gracie he is very vocal about everything. VERY vocal! Love the picture of her sleeping onthe sofa on your instagram account...such a clever girl!
ReplyDeleteHa ha, she is such a sweetie, Rhonda. She certainly keeps you entertained. I currently have your blog post on pickling beetroot open on my iPad here in the kitchen as I try to use this new oven to cook it without getting beetroot juice over all the brand new tiles etc. You would have a laugh.
ReplyDeleteAh, Gracie such focus and such beauty!!
ReplyDeleteHow very patient. Gracie is a lovely girl and I admit I would be taking tonnes of photos too.
ReplyDeleteFunny little dog!
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you Rhonda - you made my day:). Gracie is just adorable and your photos are great. Margaret
ReplyDeleteSo funny, made my day, she is a patient dog and the cutest ever.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha! I thought you were going to say it was a snake or a goanna!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, she's waging war on lizards on the ground. I'm dreading the day she sees a snake.
DeleteGracie is so adorable. Apart from being our best friends, they are great at entertaining us and making us laugh. When our golden Labrador was still alive, we used to walk him daily around the estate we lived on and his greatest pleasure was chasing the squirrels around a particular oak tree on this property. Of course he never managed to catch one, thank goodness, but when it came time to lay his ashes down somewhere special, we placed them around the base of this particular tree. To this day we wonder if he has ever managed to catch those squirrels! Thanks for the lovely blogs. Lorna
ReplyDeleteGracie is adorable - I love the sequence of photos. I'm smiling as I type this.

ReplyDeletehad a good chuckle with this! Gracie is the Wild lol!
ReplyDeleteboy has she grown up! so adorable!
thanx for sharing
At least you know you are safe from the birds! She is adorable and every time I see her photo I want a puppy!
ReplyDeleteOh, she is just SO adorable!!! Our pets are so ridiculous and funny. What would we do without them?
ReplyDeleteGood girl, Gracie. <3
She's so cute! My shepherd does that with my daughter's cats. She would sit there for hours watching them!
ReplyDeleteThat was a funny and suspenseful read! The wildlife in your backyard is really wild - does Gracie catch anything? I hope the lizards and any future snakes will manage to get away from her (sorry Gracie). All I know about Scotties and snakes is that Bailey's favorite soft toy was a stuffed snake, and he'd run around my backyard with it, periodically stopping to shake it until it was good and "dead."
