Weekend reading

I'll be signing books at Dymocks in Brisbane city today. If you're in town, come along and say hello. I'd love to meet you. Then, on Sunday, I'll be at Riverbend Books at Bulimba for Crafternoon tea. I'm looking forward to meeting all those who have booked for that.

Life is still fairly busy. We've had family here this week and yesterday was Jamie's birthday. He's five years old now, can you believe that! He's having a party at the beach tomorrow with some of his friends.

Next week I'll be back into our regular household routine with a bit of extra rest thrown in. I don't think I'm over our trip yet so I'll be taking my own advise to look after myself. I hope you have time to relax and unwind over the weekend. I'll see you again next week. ♥︎

Stay home instead the owner of this blog came to one of my blog workshops. Now her blog is filled with recipes and ideas for home. Have a peek.
Edwardian Farm You Tube, episode 1 of 12. Of all the farm series, this one is my favourite. I think this is the closest to how we live here.

  2. I love Edwardian Farm Rhonda. It's my favourite of all their series. I wondered why it was so alluring until I realised that it harked back to living with my Nanna who was, of course, an Edwardian woman who came from a line of market gardeners. I spent many happy hours stoking coal furnaces for the tomato glass houses, bashing the stalks of dahlias for market, being given rides in the old wooden wheelbarrow and building cadtles with straw bales. Idylliv days followed by food and evening routines in Nannas kitchen in front of the coal fired Northern Range.

    1. Cassie, my grandmother was an Edwardian woman too. She killed chickens in the backyard for special occasions, polished the kitchen table with ox blood polish and had a fire place in almost every room in her Edwardian house. It was a real treat staying at her place during winter because there was always a fire alight in the bedroom. I also remember her being president of the local croquet club and chastising us for going into town without our hat and gloves. She lived in an Edwardian house in the style called Federation in Sydney.

  6. I love the Edwardian farm series. I also recently viewed a long video called 1940s house - very informative. Wartime Farm is another great series too showing how UK farmed every available space during WW2 and the skills it required.

  11. Hi Rhonda,

interesting links as always. I hope you will follow your own advice and relax a little, I'm sure you need it after the busy period you've just been through. After a busy family time this morning I find myself in an empty, and very quiet house. I am indulging myself by doing - nothing much :-)

  12. Hi Rhonda
I wonder if you have the recipe for ox blood polish? Was it only used on dark coloured wood? Did it smell offal/awful?
