This is a Friday photo feature that anyone with a blog can join. It opens the door to us sharing our lives through these photos and gives us all a new way to discover each other, and maybe form new friendships. Your photo should show something at home that you're thinking about TODAY. If you're in another country you should join in when you read this, even if it's still Thursday.
To take part, all you have to do is post a photo, write a short caption explaining it, and link it back to here. Write a new post, don't link to an older one. When your photo is published, come back and add a comment below, with a link to your blog photo. Please visit all the blogs that appeal to you and leave a comment. If you are wondering why no one has commented on your On my mind post, maybe it's because you haven't commented on anyone else's. Slow down, take the time to cruise around and enjoy your cyber visits.
I washed and ironed the kitchen curtains last week and it's been on my mind since then that soon I'll have more time to do some hand sewing, or what our grandmas called "Fancywork". I made these curtains about 18 months ago. They're off white cotton, hand stitched with two tea cups in red embroidery thread over my pencil drawing. They cost less than five dollars but each morning, as I pull them back to greet the day, they remind me of the simple beauty of handmade linens.
What's on my mind today? Fresh goat milk ... or more specifically ... the lack of fresh goat milk!

ReplyDeleteOn my mind is "frugal love" http://theprofessorswife.blogspot.com/2011/02/frugal-love.html
I love your blog but I just found it and wasn't aware of this Friday feature. I wish I'd known when I posted my pics of the sky this morning as part of my "Thankful Thursday" post, since that has been on my mind quite a bit lately. We just moved from Detroit to NC and I cannot get over the sunrises and sunsets here. Anywho...I will definetely be back next week to participate. You have a wonderful blog and I look forward to visiting often in the future.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you and yours :)

I did some kitchen towels as Christmas presents with an embroidery pattern this past year. They reminded me of the kitchen towels we had growing up made of old flour sacks. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteAnd this is on my mind...

I can't wait to have the time and space to do creative crafts and 'fancywork' x
Your curtains are really pretty, & I can just imagine how light and breezy the would look blowing at an open window. I love looking at fancywork even if I don't embroider myself..
ReplyDeleteLovely Curtains Rhonda.

Since I'm in the UK, it's still Thursday - and a wintery Thursday at that. I've been thinking about the future growing season - and how to make best use of our garden space - and about keeping warm...

There is just something about Fancy work that does make your heart smile. Lovely pattern Rhonda. On my mind this week is Hairpin Crochet and a shawl I'm making for my Mum.

ReplyDeleteOn my mind: Missing the moos already
http://bettermebetterworld.blogspot.com/
Rhonda...your curtains are adorable! It is on my list to make new ones for my kitchen. However, I plan on being in the midst of a house move (hopefully within the year!) and I'm planning on an entirely new color scheme. My new curtains will reflect the new motif!
ReplyDeleteIt is still 'Thrifty Thursday' here in Michigan, so a trip (actually 2) to the Goodwill is on my mind! I scored some great deals (no pics as my camera and computer are not talking to each other at the moment).
Also, I decided today was a grand day to destash my kitchen! So I'll have a lovely load to take to the Goodwill tomorrow, and nifty organized cabinets with lots more space instead of clutter!

Pretty redwork.
ReplyDeleteOn my mind today is painting my office. I have one wall done and I'm dreaming of how it will look when it's all finished with buttery yellow walls.

Rhonda, your embroidery is gorgeous. Such a great, 'kitcheny' design.
ReplyDeleteThis week I was horrified to see an ad on TV for an chemical air-freshener that automatically sprays when someone walks into the room. I figured a reed diffuser was a much better way to go.

ReplyDeleteOn my mind today is friendships and an old recipe that I used to makhttp://thenextstage-maria.blogspot.com/2011/02/on-my-mindfriendships-left-overs-and.htmle in the 1970s!
On my mind today is a lovely crop of peaches grown from a seedling of a tree I reluctantly had to cut down.
ReplyDeletehttp://five-minutes-of-fame.blogspot.com/2011/02/on-my-mind.html
I enjoyed Calidore's oh so fine work and also love the stitchery.
Hello Rhonda
ReplyDeletePretty curtains.
On my mind today was peaches!
http://cabbagetreefarm.blogspot.com/2011/02/peaches-to-die-for.html
Your post reminded me of an old joke I had on my mind this morning after my Mother-in-Law said my Better Half was ironing her trousers - I remarked that I hoped she'd taken them off first. Which then reminded me of the joke...
ReplyDeleteA woman went to the doctor's. WOMAN: "Doctor, I think I've broken my arm."
DOCTOR: "How did that happen?"
WOMAN: "It was while I was ironing the curtains."
DOCTOR: "???????"
WOMAN: "I'd left the window open"...
I love your 'fancywork' Rhonda, teacups are one of my favourites. "Fancywork" is a term my Nana also used.
ReplyDeleteOn my mind this week is an old sewing machine. http://sewingtheseedsofchange.blogspot.com/2011/02/on-my-mind_18.html
Cheers Lisa
On my mind today is humanity
ReplyDeletehttp://thebokflock.blogspot.com/2011/02/humanity.html

ReplyDeleteOn my mind today (among other things), family and friends.

I've really been enjoying this feature, and have gotten my own photo up this week.
ReplyDeleteWhat's on my mind is our first in ground garden at this home...

This has given me the idea to make some table napkins and move toward eliminating paper ones! I can use the fancy stitches on my sewing machine that I don't know how to use.
ReplyDeleteI have no single photo this week, but I have a updated winemaking post if anyone is interested...
http://mary-nagud.blogspot.com/2011/02/ahhhh-wine-is-fine.html
I love these curtains. I've never tried my hand at redwork, but would love to. Perhaps I might work a bit into a quilt somehow!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this opportunity Rhonda!
ReplyDeleteOn my mind?
Stitching :)
http://heritageacreshomestead.blogspot.com/
Dear Rhonda,
ReplyDeleteI don't have a blogspot, but on my mind are the two aprons I'll make today for my neighbor and her daughter (my "adopted" granddaughter). The fabric has lots of horses and there'll be cowgirlish fringe since they have several horses. Great way to spend the afternoon...stitching for my good friends.
I love your curtains; so cheerful. They make me think of the time almost 46 years ago when I stitched puppies and kittens on curtains in anticipation of the birth of my first child, a son. I still have those curtains packed away. Thanks for jogging my memory of them.
Good luck on your progress with finalizing everything for the book. I can't wait until you're back posting next week.

On my mind today? Do we owe it to the original owners/designers of a house to keep their vision intact, or do we owe it to ourselves to make our mark? Making one's house one's own - especially the kitchen! http://hillcountryliving.blogspot.com/2011/02/on-my-mind-making-house-your-own.html
ReplyDeleteOn my mind today--happy my daughter passed her Learner's License. Quite a slow start to the day for me reading a book while waiting for her to finish. But, much better than sitting in rush hour early morning school-and-work traffic, for sure.
ReplyDeleteI thought I'd join this enjoyable post. It's fun to see what others are doing in their daily lives.
ReplyDeleteKnitting is on mind today...a new doll pattern:

At the last minute I decided to participate this week. What's been on my mind is decidedly less homey and positive than most, but that's the way it is sometimes.
ReplyDeletehttp://loveknowledgezeal.wordpress.com/2011/02/18/the-aftermath-of-the-junk-food-weekend/
I used to embroider, another hobby that I haven't pursued of late.
