A hodgepodge of photos

Hello dear friends. It's Anzac Day in Australia and New Zealand today. I've been sorting through my photos and found a nice Anzac Day photo. There are a few photos in this folder that I don't think have been published before so I thought you'd enjoy a slow browse through them.

This fine location is Arthur Close in Hobart. Taken when we were on the 2016 book tour.

These miniature roses are Cecile Brunner. They're now growing along the chook fence.

  1. Lovely photos, Rhonda...and the one of unwell Rose...so sad! Those roses are very pretty. A neighbour gave us six of hers she wanted to get rid of so I now have to learn how to look after them as I know nothing about roses. I lost my precious elderberry syrup when I poured some olives from a nearly empty bottle into it as they were the same colour. Perhaps I need a cataract operation too. LOL!

  3. Beautiful photos, Rhonda. I love the one of the tiny pink roses. They are so sweet. The one with Rose is sad. You were such a good friend to her and vice versa. I think of you and Hanno all the time when I garden. I'm making a lot of progress, and it's very exciting to cook and eat homegrown fruits and vegetables. Thanks for all of the articles.

  4. That little old lamp keeps featuring lately. It was good to see it alight. I wonder what its story is? As you know I have a soft spot for lamps

    1. Hi Phil. I love lamps too. I bought it on one of my many trips along the New England Highway to visit Tricia. I found it in an antique shop in Glen Innes. The woman told me she bought it in Inverell and it was part of an estate sale from a old homestead out there. She described it as a bedroom lamp.

  11. What wonderful photos of your life and the things that really matter. They have cheered me up greatly on a day when health issues have been a worry. Both my husband and I are feeling old today, and that won't do!!

That bread made me drool and I must get around to making hand-raised loafs again - my breadmaker is great for saving time but I always feel I'm cheating a bit, using it!

I love your roses btw - waiting eagerly for my first of the season (which is always Roserie de l'Hay.

What a lovely array of photos, such treasured and special ones. Love Gracie’s intelligent face, such a sweetheart ❤️Can I ask where Sunny’s Sushi place is, we will be up the Sunshine Coast next week for my birthday and we both feel like a sushi lunch. Have a lovely evening, Fi

    1. Hi Fiona. Happy birthday my dear. Sunny's shop is in Woolworths on Caloundra Road, opposite McDonalds. Kerry has a shop now too. He's at Mooloolaba beach - on the Esplanade near the surf club. Sunny is great for takeaway, Kerry would be better for lunch, he has some little tables and chairs on the footpath. Both of them serve fresh sushi everyday, both are fantastic. If you have Instagram, search for Kerry at behappysushi I hope you enjoy your day. Oh, and say hello when you go into the shop. They like that. :- )

  21. I noticed that you have flower pots on stakes/poles in your garden. Is there a reason for this or is it just decorative? -- Ave

P.S. We always enjoy photos of your lovely home and garden.

    1. Hi Ave. Traditionally, pots where placed on top of garden stakes to stop gardeners colliding with the stakes when they bent over. I like the look of it.

  22. Hi Rhonda. I like all the pictures. I had to look "Anzac Day" up, I guess my history classes in school were too European centered! The roses are beautiful. The picture of you and Rose is very moving. I was a short time member of the down-to-earth-forum, and she seemed great at participating in keeping the forum together. She came through as a lovely person. I still sometimes miss the forum.
Your birthday afternoon comes through with such a nice family (please excuse me for not always being very good at English, but these were just some of my thoughts on the pictures). Best wishes, Helle from Denmark
