Read this ...

There is something in every one of you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself.  It is the only true guide you will ever have.  And if you cannot hear it, you will all of your life spend your days on the ends of strings that someone else pulls.....Howard Thurman.

  4. "The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. ...You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask."

  6. Very nice, it is refreshing to see and read about the very ideals that I have tried to live. NOT THAT I AM PERFECT, I am not. But it is much harder to live true to self, rather than follow the rut or get stuck in it. Living true to self is "expensive", but the one bill I gladly pay. thanks.

  7. I am hoping to see what people think of a dilemma I have that replays in my head. We will be able to pay off our mortgage within 2 years if we budget and cost cut. However I am ethically drawn to organic and green groceries that inevitably make our grocery bill a quarter more expensive than if I buy the cheaper alternatives (we live in a rural area). We have a vege garden, use baking soda and vinegar where possible and watch wastage. I am at a point where I think I should buy the cheap alternatives and then be able to make the lifestyle choices (job change and lifestyle) we want to. What do you and the readers think?

I don't know who Howard Thurman is, but the quote you used expresses so clearly the discovery I made in my myself recently - that I have to be true to myself in how I live and think. I have never been what I would see as materialistic, but I know when talking to friends or family, you feel you have think, act and live sometimes as others do, then you realise that HEY!! this is my life and those "rules" just don't apply to me!!
Becky's quote from Jim Morrison (isn't he a singer?) is so true as well, I just don't wear that mask anymore either!! (or at least I try my very hardest not too!)
Its very hard in today's society, because a lot of what affects you is done subtly through conversation, advertising, peer-pressure etc.,and thats when you have to listen to Jenny's good advice and "turn off all the other noise" and listen to yourself!
    Thank you Rhonda :-)
