Blue eyes !
Most of you know that our Gracie arrived on Wednesday and we've had a couple of days to get used to each other. She's such a joy and I'm sure we'll have many happy years ahead with her. She's tiny at the moment, just 2.2kg/4.8lbs, and we're working out how much she needs to eat, and when. She's been no trouble at night. She sleeps on the floor in a big box next to Hanno's side of the bed. She's woken twice during the night and she goes back to sleep straight away when he pats her. She just needs some reassurance, and to know we're there with her.
We had our first outing with her this morning when we went to the vet. The vet nurse wanted to take her photo and other people asked about her. But I guess the big test will be tomorrow when all the grandkids are here. I don't expect any problems, we just need to establish a few rules.
Thanks for your wonderful messages, emails and comments about Gracie this week. I'll make sure I include a photo of her every week so you can watch her grow into the strong and independent little dog most Scotties become. ♥︎

ReplyDeleteGracie is just the cutest little dog ever. I can tell she has a wonderful home. Enjoy her.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to having our first polytunnel (high tunnel). It should be going up in the next week or two (if it ever stops raining!). It will be new to me but I've never read anything except positive comments about them. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Bill, it's good to see you again. I think polytunnels are a fabulous addition to the garden. We're putting up a shade tunnel today. We're in a different climate so we're using shade cloth instead of plastic but the purpose is the same - to protect growing plants. Ours will protect our leafy greens from the harsh sun which is already getting pretty hot here. Good luck with your tunnel, I'll go over and have a look on your blog.
DeleteOh how cute and adorable is Gracie, such a lucky puppy to have you and Hanno for a Mum And Dad!enjoy!
ReplyDeleteGracie is so adorable. In regard to your last post and dog food. I started feeding my two dogs (a Spoodle and a Bichon/Shih Tzu) homemade food when my Spoodle developed a skin allergy. It is a good way to feed but was taking me so long to organise. I did some research and I now feed Canidae dry dog food. It is all natural human grade meat. It seems expensive to buy at first but upon working it out (a 20kg bag lasts my two for 3.5 months) it was only a couple of dollars more than the stuff from the supermarket. Here is the link if you wanted to have a look www.canidae.com.au/ Have fun with Gracie, I wouldn't be without my two.
ReplyDeleteHi Andie, canidae is on a par with the Blackhawk biscuits we're feeding Gracie. I would not like to live my life eating only processed food and for that reason, I choose to give my pets a biscuit meal and a fresh meal. It gives them variety and the goodness fresh food brings. We're all different. I have the time to made Gracie's food and will continue to do that, you're time poor and choose to feed a good quality biscuit. I think we're both doing what we think is best for our pets and that it good for our dogs and for us.
DeleteThe face that launched a 1,000 dog treats! Plus some interesting links and a very adorable frog picture - thanks Rhonda! Beth in MN
ReplyDeleteHi Rhonda, can you recommend a vegetarian gelatin substitute? Ruby mentions using one but doesn't give any brand names. Also your dog is super adorable, and I hope you enjoy and love her so much!
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Suzanne
Agar agar is the most commonly used one and it's fairly easy to find in the shops. I looked online to get more info and found this: http://www.thekitchn.com/vegetarian-and-vegan-substitutes-for-gelatin-tips-from-the-kitchn-189478
