There was not much time for reading this week but here is a small list I hope you'll enjoy. The main one, of course, is the first link. I'm sure I'll spend a fair bit of time watching those bears in the coming months. I hope you have a lovely weekend. I'll see you again next week. :- )
The cameras are back on at Brooks Falls in the Katmai National Park. It's bear watching season again! These are live webcams. The bears are emerging from their hibernation and soon we'll see them wandering in to feed on the largest Sockeye Salmon run in the world. UPDATE: I saw my first bear at the falls this morning. A small bear on the far side of the river jumping at salmon but not catching any. This area will be occupied by the biggest bear soon so this little bear is lucky to be there today.

Hey Rhonda
ReplyDeleteYet another wonderful list of things to dive into as the weekend approaches—and such a range!
Off-grid stories are always of interest to me and remind me that we were not always 'energy hungry' and having a more 'mindful' mindset rather than a 'convenience' mindset would better serve us all.
And your turmeric link reminded me that I have recently dabbled with making 'shrubs'—drinking vinegars cum syrups, one of which is full of flavour, colour and kick. My Winter Switchel Shrub combines ginger, honey, apple cider vinegar and spices—one of which is turmeric!
The link to the Bramble Cay melomys is another wake-up call about our addiction to fossil-fuel based energy and how we have to make big changes. Who would have thought such a cute little furry mammal would be identified as one of the first casualties of the deepening crisis on the Great Barrier Reef!
Enjoyed the reading suggestions and the articles from Radio National. Learned a new term "enoughness" and somehow that goes along with the decluttering challenge that I am doing now. Have a happy weekend. Carolyn in Florida
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to trying the felafel recipe! I've taken advice from here to laminate paper to keep lists of food on. I now have one on each freezer and for each shelf of pantry, so easy to just wipe things off as they come out
