Weekend reading

Christina Lowry - this is always a beautiful blog but just look at the blanket Christina is working on.

Think Little by Wendell Berry

From comments here during the week

Another week has come and gone; they seem to be flying by this year. I hope you take some time to look after yourself this weekend. Let's all take an hour out to sit in the sun, or someplace warm, to enjoy the scenery or a book and recharge our batteries. See you next week. :- )

  4. Love that you read Frankie Rhonda!
I've really struggled with magazines. They all seem to be about "How to have your best sex ever! What guys really want!" "2 weeks to a better you!" And "Wardrobe must-haves!" It was starting to get really depressing... Then I found Frankie! And the stories were honest, and nice. They had stories about DIY, and craft, and sustainable living.
As well as people of all ages living their lives how they want, even if it's not necessarily "normal". And of course the poster each month.
I was hooked! Glad to see a publication that includes all demographics.
Didn't know they had a website will check it out. Also loved the 10 things to buy second hand article.
    Hope you're well,
    Bec.

    1. Hi Bec. I have to admit, I read more by flicking through it at the newsagent rather than buying it. I have bought two copies but I only get it when I HAVE to. I agree with your critique of Frankie. It's an intelligent, holistic magazine in every sense.

  5. The Retro Housewife is an interesting read, Rhonda. I have never seen Frankie in the newsagents but then again, the only time I actually do check out magazines is when I am at the airport and filling in a couple of hours before catching my flight to visit my girl and her family.

I hope you and Hanno have a relaxing weekend.

  6. Okay. I can agree with the ten things you should never buy new, but so glad
they stopped before they included someone's old gym shorts in the sports gear list!

  7. Thanks for visiting my little stitching/sampler blog, Rhonda - I always love to welcome visitors there to my corner of the Canadian West. And thanks, too, for the weekend reading links you give each week - this time, I found Wendell Berry especially thought-provoking. And the Australian blogs are always a treat to read too - that blanket of Christina's, wow!

  8. Rhonda, have a lovely weekend! We are finally taking our first vacation in 20 years! I closed my gift shop on April 30th, having decided I really was not interested in selling things (to other people) that I honestly would never even want to own. Feels great. Now on to better things....

  9. I am one of the people who often look, read, enjoy, smile but don't comment on your blog. I have always meant to but somehow I feel a bit in awe of you and maybe my comment may not be necessary. This time I have taken the plunge. I have scrolled through and read a recent-ish post about your memories of tea and it is these posts that interest me so. These posts make me smile and fill me with contentment, somehow. For that, I want to thank you. I have also made you soap which the family and I love. Thank you for the time and effort you put into your blog you are like everyone's friend, mother or grandmother.

    1. Hello Marcellina. Thanks for your comment. I am just an ordinary woman there is no need to step lightly around me. I'm really pleased the soap works well for you and your family. I hope you continue to read here and to comment occasionally. :- )

  10. Thank you for the compliment Rhonda and for linking to my blanket. What a wonderful surprise to see it on your list. Your blog is one of my favourites and you are always such an inspiration to me. I've been slowly converting my friends and neighbours to the joys of homemade laundry liquid and homegrown veggies and sending them to your blog. :)
