I have enjoyed all the company this past weekend! Constantly. They are seen as "users". Nothing great about that.

The vast, vast, vast majority of U.S. young people in this Rocky Mountain state get their own license, their own car, and their own part-time job, for that matter. Around here, it's called growing up. Mass transit may work well in the congested and compact urban areas on the East Coast, but not here. The distances to travel are just too great.

Our metro area cities are building a light raid line, but it's creating density instead of alleviating it: the land developers and city officials "infill" nice open areas with high-rise apartments and condominiums built very close together in order to "take advantage of the light-rail line." It's creating congestion! Crazy.

However, the majority voted to pay taxes in order to build the line (including me) because it's going to be needed in 15-30 years, and it's cheaper to built it now. It's just frustrating to watch the greedy city government officials and developers deliberately create congestion just to get tax revenue and profits.

Marie Claire

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089828552519076506.post-20959353165946304092013-05-18T18:06:54.347+10:002013-05-18T18:06:54.347+10:00Thanks once again for your 'weekend reading...Thanks once again for your 'weekend reading'. We have insurance but cannot afford to use it! Our daughter had an ER visit in Feb and our out of pocket cost was just over $2000 and she had no expensive tests or procedures! We do everything we can to stay well at home with natural healthcare such as essential oils and by just taking care of ourselves and eating a healthy diet. Sad but true!momma-lanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02975411711120382015noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089828552519076506.post-12652253481010202402013-05-17T20:36:58.551+10:002013-05-17T20:36:58.551+10:00Hi Rhonda

My daughter is of age to get her driving permit, and has no interest in doing so. Nor do any of her friends of similar age. Between the cost of gas and car insurance, and having heard more than one horror story about older kids getting into car wrecks, I doubt that any of them will embrace driving with anything like the enthusiasm we did when we were her age. I'm hoping that this is the generation that will finally bring mass transit to our suburbs.Barb_in_GAnoreply@blogger.com
