Very disappointed to fail to grow pumpkins now several years sunning. In our colder climate, sometimes they have to be picked a bit early before the frost kills the stems.Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06815336062313580688noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089828552519076506.post-8113085857050103852010-08-04T16:53:14.598+10:002010-08-04T16:53:14.598+10:00Dear Rhonda,

We use our compost to treat the soil and plant our veggies and herbs on polybags nowadays so as to contain the acidity of the soil. But still we consider it a big waste for not being able to make use of our huge piece of land into good use for gardening.
Ooh! How can we treat our soil?
Thank you.
With regards,
Christine&InnEesilwehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03032078969969354725noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089828552519076506.post-1928828599555346262010-08-04T16:05:53.209+10:002010-08-04T16:05:53.209+10:00Hi Rhonda...thanks for all the tips!!! I was very curious about ripening tomatoes inside- but the ones I found at the farmer's market this week were still orange, but I was so desperate for fresh tomatoes that I bought them and put them on the windowsill- they were bright red the next day! Thank you for explaining the mechanics of this more fully!

Enjoy your gardening- there's nothing quite like pottering with soil and plants.Lizhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15872903922526828007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089828552519076506.post-77255854203087421242010-08-04T09:00:21.207+10:002010-08-04T09:00:21.207+10:00Hi Rhonda, I've just printed this out to read ...Hi Rhonda, I've just printed this out to read over lunch, thank you!
I think you're right about more people appreciating home grown produce!Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14751315680374413649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089828552519076506.post-83762869804155322232010-08-04T07:48:35.376+10:002010-08-04T07:48:35.376+10:00Thank you all this wonderful information.
