There is a Woolowrths (yuck) on the Obi Obi now and a roundabout in Maple Street but all the old shops are still there.rhonda jeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08962112306968959985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089828552519076506.post-67875941107482986392012-09-09T04:37:42.426+10:002012-09-09T04:37:42.426+10:00Hello again Ann, it was lovely seeing you again to...Hello again Ann, it was lovely seeing you again today. I loved Bev's talk too and yes, that was John King. His wife Mary comes in to our craft afternoons most weeks and she's got a lot of bush food knowledge as well. It was lovely sitting there in our little group with Karen as well with others stopping to say hello. I caught up with Diana outside and had a chat with her. The book signing went well and I'll be back there again today, talking a out bread this time. lol When you and your sister come back to Maleny, have lunch at either Monica's or the Upfront Club. The club is next to the co-op and Monica's a bit further up on the same side of the street. That's where the locals eat and the coffee is good at both places.rhonda jeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08962112306968959985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089828552519076506.post-43871639218352561542012-09-08T22:50:48.751+10:002012-09-08T22:50:48.751+10:00What a shame we don't live closer...sounds lik...What a shame we don't live closer...sounds like a wonderful event and i'd love to see you give a talk Rhonda! I'd also love to see how Maleny has grown since i lived in the area as a child!Hope you have a lovely time and also manage a little rest in there too!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07586610467519318424noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089828552519076506.post-23975234621504533592012-09-08T22:05:22.875+10:002012-09-08T22:05:22.875+10:00I had a lovely morning fossicing around the Food F...I had a lovely morning fossicing around the Food Festival, so many interesting & yummy stalls. It was nice to see you today & I enjoyed your talk (even though it was not about baking bread, lol). The talk by your friend Bev Hand on Indigenous Food Culture was really informative. She's a lovely lady & sensibly passionate about her heritage. The input from the man from the Bush Food Assoc. (I think his name was John King) was an added bonus. I left just after your talk but drove home via the center of Maleny township. I had to laugh, as I stopped in at the Maleny newsagent to put in our Lotto form only to be told they don't do Lotto but the chemist next door does....... that's country towns for you! I ended up spending a couple of hours exploring the main street, the wood furniture shop, the bookshop , the co-op & the deli. It's a lovely town & you could feel the sense of community..... plenty of interesting retail outlets but pleasantly not as touristy as Montville. I'll certainly be going for a drive & a fossic in Maleny again as a day out when my sister comes down from Ayr for a visit..... we love having a "girls" day out & that would be right up our alley. I hope Hanno was rested & feeling a bit better when you got home. The road to recovery is often slow & his body will find it's way back to health at it's own pace.
