Reading the comments made me remember something my mother-in-law told me. She and her husband had that rule about never letting the sun go down on your anger, but they added to it that it was the responsibility of the person who thought they were in the right to initiate peacemaking. She said she knew there would always be at least one person who thought they were in the right!
