Homemade cards

I've been tidying up my photo albums this morning because it's too cold to go outside to the garden. I found this little card I made a couple of years ago that I thought some of you might like to see. We owned a shop when I made a few of these cards for Xmas and I got some very strange looks from customers who wondered what on earth I was doing knitting on tooth picks. Truly, there is no easy explanation.
I've also spent some time this morning looking for blogs I like to add to my links list. I did find some lovely Australian ones and I invite you all to check them out by clicking on the links on the left side of the screen. Five and two and soozs. I'm still looking, so hopefully I'll be adding more.

  1. Rhonda,
I love the card. What a clever idea. I think we'll "borrow" the idea for our cards this year.

  3. Love the card too, but have you seen the same idea made up as a little jumper for a baby card? Saw the idea in a Grass Roots magazine and have made a few myself, very easy. Just knit a few rows and then increase 5 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows, knit another couple of rows and then transfer to the tooth picks as per your card. Love your blog, Rhonda, am very guilty of lurking too, but had to comment on your beautiful card!

  4. bridget, I haven't seen the Grass Roots cards. I gave up buying magazines a few years ago and have to rely on the library now.
The little jumpers sound lovely. I'll remember that.

  5. Rhonda, I don't buy the magazines either, this was an old one I borrowed from the library, but when we were up visiting my parents at Nambour in March we went up to Montville for a look at the shops and I saw lots of them made up in one of the craft shops there that has all the lovely handmade and knitted things, can't remember its name, but I know you probably know the one as you live in the area. They take no time to make and I use No 12 knitting needles and then transfer to toothpicks. We seem to be having a lot of friends children having babies recently, so have been getting a bit of practice making them!
